Tennessee Ladies Day 2009
Author: Londa Richardson
Ladies Day 2009 is scheduled for May 1 & 2 at Camp Hickory Hills in Dickson. Each year, hundreds of ladies from across Tennessee arrive with expectant hearts and do not leave disappointed. Many testify it is the highlight of their year.
"Sanctuary" is the theme for this year’s event. The psalmist declared: "I love your sanctuary, Lord, the place where your glorious presence dwells." Psalm 26:8
With much uncertainty and chaos around our daily lives, we need a sanctuary, a place to rest our minds and souls. Sanctuary is not a building or room. Sanctuary is more than escape. It is a place of refreshing, restoration, and peace.
We are delighted to share our guest speaker this year is Karen Wheaton. She is a seasoned Christian minister whose music has provoked listeners to pursue God in passionate worship for many years. Her first exposure came on the PTL Club in 1978, and the next year she traveled with the Spurrlows in the Festival of Praise. Throughout the ‘80’s Karen had the privilege of serving alongside ministers such as Frances Hunter, Benny Hinn, and Marilyn Hickey as they held crusades and conferences all throughout the world. Toward the end of the decade, she joined the TBN family and has been apart of that impacting television station ever since. Beginning the ‘90’s Karen increasingly traveled on her own as doors opened to sing and speak at various churches, prisons, and women’s conferences. Today, she continues to travel and minister, but her efforts are primarily focused on the youth center she founded, called the Ramp in her hometown, Hamilton, Alabama. Over 1,100 young people gather there each month to be transformed by the presence of God and equipped to win their cities. Her ministry is powerful and anointed.
Applications will be mailed to all local leaders this week and will also be available for download or on-line registration after March 5th. Those wishing to secure lodging together at the campground are encouraged to mail the applications together as soon as possible. A number of fine hotels are also available in the area should you wish to stay off-grounds.
Ladies Day is a special week-end planned for the young, those in between, and the young at heart. Bring all the ladies from your church to "Sanctuary". God invites you into His "rest" and so do we!
